In short. Start with the center of the chart—the comfort zone—then look at the date points, the purposes, the money and relationship positions, and finally the karmic tail. At each position, ask two questions: what number is here, and what is this spot asking about. The meaning of an arcanum without a position is too general, and a position without a number is empty. Remember: the destiny matrix is a symbolic system for interpreting a birth date, not a measurement of personality and not a forecast of events.
What the Chart Consists Of
The matrix is built from a birth date. From the day, month, and year, fixed formulas produce numbers from 1 to 22—the arcana. Each number is placed in a specific spot on the chart, and each spot has its own theme. The same date always gives the same numbers.
There are many points on the chart, but not all of them matter for reading: some are needed only to build the diagram. Below are the positions that are read for meaning and how they are calculated in this system. You can find any of them in two ways: by the label on your chart or by calculating it yourself from the date.
| Position | How to find (calculate) | What it asks about |
|---|---|---|
| Point A — personal qualities | Day of birth; if greater than 22 — sum of digits | How others see you: the qualities that are easiest to express |
| Point B — inner world | Month number, 1–12 | What comes easily: strengths and interests |
| Point C — karmic task | Sum of the digits of the year, reduced to 1–22 | What you are learning: the theme life brings you back to again and again |
| Point D — material sphere (bottom point) | A + B + C | What you build in the world: work, foundation, the material side of life |
| Center — comfort zone | A + B + C + D | Your grounding: the state in which you feel like yourself |
| Personal purpose | Sky line (B + D) plus Earth line (A + C) | The path to yourself: the theme through which you live your own life as you unfold it |
| Social purpose | Sum of the two ancestral lines — from the corner points of the chart | Your place among people: family, team, community |
| Spiritual purpose | Personal + social purpose | Deeper meaning: what connects your personal path and your role among people |
| Money energy ($) | C + center = entry to the money channel; D + center = entry to the relationship channel; their sum is the balance point; entry to the money channel + balance | Activities and mindset in which it feels natural for you to create value |
| Relationship energy (♥) | Entry to the relationship channel + balance point | What kind of relationships fulfill you and what you bring into intimacy |
| Karmic tail | Entry to the relationship channel (D + center), then that same number + D, then Point D itself | Repeating patterns; read as a triad |
The corner points of the chart are A + B, B + C, C + D, and D + A; the ancestral lines are the sums of opposite corners: (A + B) + (C + D) and (B + C) + (D + A). At each step, any number greater than 22 is reduced: its digits are added together until the result is 22 or less. For example, 28 → 2 + 8 = 10.
Reading Order
- Center. Find the number in the center and open the meaning of that arcanum. In this system, the center is the comfort zone—the foundation against which everything else is read.
- Points A, B, C, and D. See whether they repeat the center or bring in other themes. If a number repeats, read it separately for each position.
- Purposes. Read them as symbolic questions about direction, not as a "mission" you have to guess.
- Money and relationships. Read the number specifically through the question of that position. For details, see the articles on the money channel and on the relationship line.
- Karmic tail. The three numbers are read as a single combination, not as three separate descriptions. You can also look up the triad on its own in the karmic tail calculator.
- Bring it together. Which themes repeat? Where do the numbers clash with one another? The conclusion is a set of questions for reflection, not a list of facts about yourself.
For each number, open its meaning in the arcana catalog and look at the section for the relevant position.
Reading Example
To show how the order works in practice, let's take a sample date: 25.07.1989. The numbers below are calculated by the rules of this system—using the same calculation as the calculator on the site.
| Position | Calculation | Number |
|---|---|---|
| Point A | 25 → 2 + 5 | 7 |
| Point B | July | 7 |
| Point C | 1 + 9 + 8 + 9 = 27 → 2 + 7 | 9 |
| Point D | 7 + 7 + 9 = 23 → 2 + 3 | 5 |
| Center | 7 + 7 + 9 + 5 = 28 → 2 + 8 | 10 |
| Personal purpose | sky 7 + 5 = 12, earth 7 + 9 = 16; 12 + 16 = 28 → 2 + 8 | 10 |
| Social purpose | corners 14, 16, 14, 12; lines 14 + 14 = 28 → 10 and 16 + 12 = 28 → 10; 10 + 10 | 20 |
| Spiritual purpose | 10 + 20 = 30 → 3 + 0 | 3 |
| Money energy | entry 9 + 10 = 19; entry to the relationship channel 5 + 10 = 15; balance 19 + 15 = 34 → 7; 19 + 7 = 26 → 2 + 6 | 8 |
| Relationship energy | 15 + 7 | 22 |
| Karmic tail | 15; 15 + 5 = 20; Point D — 5 | 15‑20‑5 |
How to read it: in the center is 10, the Wheel of Fortune—the theme of cycles and change (about Arcanum 10). The same ten appears in the personal purpose—there it is read through the question of that position. Points A and B are sevens, the Chariot: two identical themes of will and direction. In the money position is 8, Justice—a question about measure, exchange, and agreements (about Arcanum 8), not an income forecast. The tail 15‑20‑5 (the Devil, Judgment, the Hierophant) is read as a single combination. Its third number is always Point D, which here is 5; in the tail, the five is read as part of the triad, not on its own.
Number, Position, and Combination
- Number (arcanum) — a general image, such as "change" for 10.
- Position — the question that a specific spot asks. A ten in the center and a ten in the money position answer different questions.
- Combination — several numbers read together. The main example is the karmic tail: its meaning is not equal to the sum of three separate descriptions.
That is why an article about a single arcanum is a reference guide, not an analysis of your chart. To read the whole chart, you need to consider the different positions and number combinations.
Common Mistakes
- Reading the meaning of an arcanum without its position: "I have an 8, so that means I'm fair."
- Looking for a forecast in the chart: a wedding date, an income amount, illnesses. The matrix does not show these things.
- Adding up three separate descriptions of the tail instead of reading the combination.
- Comparing your numbers with another site without checking: systems and arcana names differ.
- Reading your personal chart as compatibility with a partner. For a couple, you need a calculation based on two dates.
Questions
Which position should I start with? With the center. It is formed from all the points of the date and sets the backdrop for the rest of the reading.
What should I do if the same number appears in several places? Read each spot with its own question: the meaning is different in every position.
Why do my numbers differ from another site? Different systems calculate differently: for example, they reduce numbers greater than 22 in different ways. In this system, a number is reduced by adding its digits. Compare interpretations only within the same system.
Can the matrix predict events? No. It is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not a forecast.
